Urwahn’s new bicycle is 3D printed and electric

certification

German bicycle company Urwahn Bikes has introduced a 3D printed e-bicycle, referred to as Platzhirsch – this can be translated bigwig, significant cheese or stag, referring to the bike’s “bursting power”. 

To make the bicycle electrical, Urwahn Bikes worked with MAHLE ebikemotion, the digital ingredient integration professional of automotive pieces manufacturer MAHLE

The electronic components, which include an LED gentle program, are almost invisibly hidden in the 3D printed steel frame. Built-in into the down tube, the rear wheel hub motor is powered by a battery, which supplies a variety of up to 80 km with 250 Wh. The Platzwirsch has a few using modes and digital navigation by means of the MAHLE Application. The cost of the e-bicycle is EUR 4.499.

This is not the first time, the bicycle producer enterprise has been applying the prospective of 3D printing certification technological know-how. For its Schmolke Edition bike, Urwahn Bikes merged the 3D printed metal body with carbon sections, created at lightweight bike ingredient expert Schmolke Carbon

3D printing certification is biking to the Olympics 

For faster manufacturing, designers of the Great Britain Biking Team’s bicycle also utilized 3D printing certification technological innovation, getting ready for Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Metallic 3D printer manufacturer Renishaw 3D printed the tooling on its RenAM 500M to develop the bike’s carbon fiber areas.

Elsewhere, Rob Quirk, Director of Quirk Cycles, a London-based mostly bespoke bicycle body maker has showcased his 3D printed bike frame. Quirk employed 3D printing certification to produce clean dropouts and a seamless seat lug in stainless metal.
