Californian 3D printer company VELO3D has announced a joint advancement agreement with semiconductor expert Lam Research to progress 3D metallic printing for semiconductor applications. Lam’s investment arm, Lam Capital, will also be investing an undisclosed total in VELO’s 3D printing certification engineering, eventually aiming to scale up its own additive production certification component quantity in the up coming five yrs.
Kevin Jennings, senior vice president of World Functions at Lam Research, states: “This joint growth arrangement aligns perfectly with Lam’s mission to repeatedly request new technologies that press the boundaries of product design and style and manufacturing. Joint enhancement settlement
The collaborative effort and hard work will see the advancement of new novel metal alloys and processes for use with VELO’s Sapphire 3D printer. Lam intends to use the process to generate proprietary wafer fabrication tooling – the equipment used to manufacture nano-scale semiconductor elements and built-in circuits. With its investment, Lam believes the Sapphire procedure is far more than capable of manufacturing the fantastic characteristics and complex 3D structures located in 21st century digital devices.
Jennings provides, “Lam Analysis is leveraging additive manufacturing certification as a driver of the innovation that permits our customers to construct scaled-down, a lot quicker, much more powerful, and power-effective digital units for each day use.”
Additive manufacturing certification and semiconductors
