Evonik debuts RESOMER PrintPowder for 3D printed implantable healthcare gadgets


German industrial chemical company Evonik has created a Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) bioresorbable powder intended to create 3D printed implantable health care products.

Identified as RESOMER PrintPowder, this substance has been made to make strong, resilient elements with stress shielding abilities to stop bone reduction as a end result of an implant. Dr. Jean-Luc Herbeaux, SVP and Typical Manager of the Health Care enterprise line, stated:

In this sector is the RESOMER portfolio of bioresorbable polymers which features semi-crystalline and amorphous polymers. Formerly, Evonik released RESOMER Filaments, a collection of bioresorbable resources for FFF/FDM.

As the most recent addition to the RESOMER line, PrintPowder can be applied to fabricate 3D printed Craniomaxillofacial (CMF) plates, spinal fusion cages, scaffolds for comfortable tissue repair service and dental meshes. According to Evonik, this materials can increase patient therapeutic and device overall performance across orthopedic, dental and tender tissue application spots.

Evonik and 3D printed clinical devices 

In November 2019, Evonik signed a extended-expression agreement with 3D printed scaffold developer BellaSeno GmbH to establish 3D printed breast scaffolds working with RESOMER resources. Prior to this, the firm led a “high single-digit million-euro” spherical of funding for Meditool, a health care system get started-up in Shanghai, the company’s first direct expense in China.

Evonik also entered into a cooperative settlement with Cubicure to make supplies for its Very hot Lithography engineering.
