EOS releases four new resources for SLM 3D printing

certification

German OEM EOS has produced 4 new steel powder for use in SLM 3D printing certification. Ranging in application from automotive to biomedicine, the new line includes StainlessSteel CX, Aluminium AlF357, Titanium Ti64 Grade 5, and Titanium Ti64 Quality 23.

Matching the levels of competition

EOS is a leading producer of laser 3D printers and powdered elements. It was started in 1989 by Dr. Hans Steinbichler and Dr. Hans Langer 2019’s winner of our Fantastic Contribution to 3D Printing certification award. 

To date, EOS has put in around 3,500 all around the environment. At the company’s 30 decades of celebration, the role of EOS in digitization was emphasised, as EOS CEO Adrian Keppler commented, “The establishment of comprehensive digital generation platforms is a big aim that we are aiming to realize in the coming a long time.”

Resources ready for production

EOS classifies its powders according to the Know-how Readiness Amounts (TRLs) formulated by NASA. If a product is between TRL 7–9, it implies that it is completely ready for series generation. All the new steel resources launched fall inside TRL 7-9.

EOS StainlessSteel CX, categorised as TRL 8, is a corrosion resistant alloy meant for tooling applications. The Aluminium AlF357 is a light-weight steel and presents corrosion resistance. It is specially manufactured for EOS M 400, even though in around potential it will be accessible for EOS M 290 as perfectly.

EOS Titanium Ti64 Grade 5 and 23 have been optimized so that they have higher fatigue resistance without HIPS processing.

The Grade 5 has software in the aerospace and automotive market, whereas Ti64 Quality 23 is biocompatible and can be employed for implants and other biomedical elements. Both equally Ti64 Quality 5 and 23 are categorized as TRL 7.
